The Sierra Club is running ads in The New York Times and BusinessWeek which criticize the Ford Motor Company for making new cars that get worse gas mileage than its Model T did 100 years ago.

The Model T's efficiency was 25 miles per gallon, while Ford's vehicles average less than 23 mpg today. In 1924, over half the cars in the world were Ford Model T's.

1903 Ford Model T: 25 mpg
2003 Ford Explorer: 16 mpg
