Record year for Catholic abuse settlements

Yesterday it was announced that 2005 was the most expensive year so far for the Catholic church in terms of sexual abuse claims. Abuse cost the church over $466 million last year, making it the highest on record and pushing the total even closer to the $2 billion mark. Over 12,000 legal accusations have been filed against Catholic clegry members since 1950.
